I'm sure a few of you VA heads are gonna be up in the DC area this month for Diplo's in store performance at DC's Commonwealth store but what everyone should really be planning for is making the trip up for Obama's January 20th inauguration. Change is definitely in the air and the support should not stop on the past election day. Besides, it will good to be part of such a historical moment. Tickets are probably all gone by now but most likely the whole city will be crowded with people and festivities. It seems "Yes we can" has become sort of a standard greeting here in Venice Beach, just a few hours ago we were skateboarding at the circle and I would hear random people using it as a form of salutations.
Not everyone came out on top this November 4th, Prop 8 was passed and regardless of whether you you support gay rights or not, it's sad to see that a religious organization can still have such a strong influence on the way our government works. I, for one, could care less how two homosexuals unite themselves, it doesn't hurt or effect me in any way. No offense to church-goers but this has clearly been a religiously funded proposition. America is too diverse in their beliefs to have persons that think that the religious morals of one organization can ignore a separation of church and state. And if you think marriage is a sacred unity, think again, how many male/female couples do you know that get married, divorce, then get married again? So to the flaming heterosexuals and those that include themselves in the "conservative right", think about this: What is more harmful to this country - Two successful, well dressed men tying the knot and settling down or two idiots getting married and creating more idiots? With issues like this that shouldn't even be relevant in this day and age, it just seems as if we are traveling back in time when we should be moving forward and worrying about more important problems.
So if you think this is a liberal way of thinking, you are probably right. But just remember that liberals are the ones that care and are open to change, and change is what we need.
Here is a funny video of some Japanese folks celebrating.
